The Nelson Mandela Metropole, encompassing the city of Port Elizabeth, Despatch and Uitenhage, is situated on the south-east coast of South Africa, and is home to +/- 1,5 million people. Port Elizabeth is well-known as an exceptionally friendly place, and tourism and eco-tourism are taking off in the region, bringing much needed investment to our shores. PE is rated the 5th biggest city in South Africa. It is a coastal city with a mild climate and averaging 7,5 hours sunshine a day throughout the year! Also well-known for it's large motor plants and related industries, Delta GM and VW both have their South African head offices here. The metropole is a mixture of 1st world and 3rd world structures. Technology is current and up-to-date and we can compete globally. However, there are many areas of huge need within our boundaries, and unemployment and the growing HIV/Aids issue probably top the list.
