The Port Elizabeth Down Syndrome Association (PEDSA) consists of children who have been referred from all areas in Port Elizabeth to the Paediatric Genetic Clinic at Dora Nginza Hospital, as well as children who have been diagnosed privately through general practitioners and paediatricians.
PEDSA aims to provide medical and social support for families and to create awareness of the condition.
21 March is World Down Syndrome Day. To celebrate this, and to further create awareness, PEDSA is organising a picnic in Happy Valley on Wednesday, 21 March at 11.00. Families of children with Down syndrome of any age should come along with their blankets, chairs, umbrellas and picnic goodies, ready to spend a special time together. PEDSA will provide some treats for the children and their families. A fun day is planned with a few speakers and families sharing their stories with each other.
