For
the past eight years we have been serving the people of Aloes, an
informal settlement east of P.E. This community has now moved to
Wells Estate. Most of the people in this community are unemployed and
poorly skilled. We started with feeding the children daily and
providing clothing and some medical attention. At the new location at
Wells Estate, a new township at the door of the new Coega harbor, we
knew we could not feed the children of about two thousand families.
We
continued our involvement by establishing an early learning centre.
We employ Mrs. Thoko Matthews, a retired school principal, and fitted
out a wooden classroom for the twenty, five year olds.

In
conjunction with Mrs. Grace Fezi we have also started feeding the
elderly and frail. We have been blessed with financial assistance
from SPAR Eastern Cape. All other funding is currently provided by
our church.
It
is our long term goal to procure a plot from local government and
develop the early learning centre which can cater for far more
children. We will build a permanent community centre that can teach
children in the morning and adults in the afternoon and evening. The
feeding that is being offered to the elderly will also need a bigger
kitchen as the project grows. At present the elderly people gather in
the street to eat their meal.
BURSARS
FOR BAY CHRISTIAN SCHOOL
It
is also our prayer to offer the fine level of education offered at Bay
Christian School, our church school, to promising students from
disadvantaged communities. At present the fees are beyond the reach
of people from disadvantaged backgrounds and we are not able to
sponsor nonpaying students. We are thus looking for bursars for these
students. Please contact us with regards to this matter.
