Precious friends and family in Christ

Greetings in the lovely name of our Lord & Saviour Jesus Christ!

Hallelujah - Praise the Lord! We have a new computer! We give Him all the glory for that.

But we also know that without you, it would not be possible. It is your prayers and support, in whatever way, that makes things possible. And for that we are very grateful. Only recently we received some vague information about donations in our SA account. As most love gifts are anonymous, we can only thank God for your faithfulness and generosity.

We want to thank you for being coworkers and keeping us in the field. Your contributions (incl. a substantial one from a missionary family in Japan) enabled us to buy this computer.

We pray that God will reimburse you here on earth; but far more at our heavenly destination.

Psalm 18:29 With your help I can advance against a troop; with my God I can scale a wall.

We bought the computer from http://Dragonsystems.net where Wycliffe & Runa Simi bought many in the past ten years. Here are some details before you even have asked. Model: NEON Mainboard: Shuttle Space Walker AB-61 Chipset Intel 440BX,UDMA66 FSB 66/150MHZ,SLOT 1, 3DIMM, 5PCI,2ISA, 1AGP ATX CPU: Intel Pentium 3 600 MHZ 512K Memoria Ram: 64 MB DIMM SDRAM PC100 D.DURO: DE 20.4 GB QUANTUM (Ultra ATA 66) CD ROM: Creative 52X (OEM) Fax Modem: Motorola 56KBPS V.90 PCI Monitor: LG 14" 45V etc.

So far it costed us just over 1000.- Dollars; and with another +300.- over the next few month, we will have everything that is needed, to bring you up to date information of all kinds.

Donna was of great help for us and we felt Gods guidance all the way. A smaller computer would have made no sense, as they are not so much less in price. Imports (computers, fridges, TV´s, stoves etc.) are very expensive here. Yet local products (pirate) are cheap. Software (any CD) cost about 4.-Dollar. Office 2000 in English on 4 CD´s was only $ 16.-.

Yes - indeed, many things are out of reach even for the ¨middle class.¨ I just have been in Lima for some shopping & searching for a regulator; but 90.- Dollars are to much. I obtained a surge protector! Food prices are also high! With much luck (or was it with the Lords help) I got a leg of lamb. This is the first time (in Peru) we will have this kind of meat (Rand 35.-/kg). Its a bargain!!

The cheapest polony & cheese is about double in price than in SA. If one like to have ¨camembert or brie¨ (Rand 275.-/kg), ¨cervelat or salami¨ (up to Rand 250.-/kg) etc.

We are still busy with schoolwork and I will let Jonathan of the hook from next Thursday (one day before his birthday). Don't feel to sorry for him, as he will resume home-school only in march.

My brothers from Germany will arrive on the 14.01.001. This will fit nice with our visa renewal (23.01.001). We will go to Chile and on the way back via Cusco (Machu Picchu) and Ayacucho. There we will make arrangements for settling in Ayacucho ASAP. We want to move in February!

We have already many friends who will help us to get established in Ayacucho & Congallo, the home of the Morochucos. I have taken up computer lessons and Elaine will do the same in Ayacucho. Elaine seems to have some allergies (fleas & mosquito's).

* Praise God for keeping us healthy and strong
* Praise Him for supplying all our needs and even some of our wants
* Praise Him for giving us many friends in SA & Peru.

* Please pray for peace in Peru & a stable government
* Pray for protection against robbers, car accidents, mudslides etc.
* Pray for Jonathan (who is still not feeling at home) & our language study.

We have send Christmas Greetings to all of you, yet many came back. Even the E-mail to our Church was rejected as ¨unknown.¨ We had many problems with the ¨old¨ computer! Maybe there are even more people who did not received our E-mails regularly.

Luke 2:15 "....Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened...."

Precious friends and co-worker; indeed, let us all go to Bethlehem in our hearts, so that things also can happen to us. Have a blessed Christmas

love Herbie, Elaine & Jonathan
