CAPE TOWN'S 12TH LIFE CHAIN - INFLUENCING PEOPLE, SAVING LIVES
PRESS STATEMENT
About 230 people took part in Cape Town's 12th Life Chain outside the entrance to the Waterfront, today (Sunday 5 October 2003). According to Department of Health statistics, at least 293 429 abortions (figures for 2003 incomplete, and no records available after May) have been performed in South Africa since abortion on demand was legalised on 1 February 1997.
Many passing motorists expressed their support for the pro-lifers facing the traffic holding "Abortion Kills Babies" placards from 2 p.m. to 3:20 p.m. by hooting, waving or giving thumbs-up signs.
Cheryllyn Dudley of the ACDP spoke of the spiritual blindness leading to not being able to see when life starts, while Errol Naidoo of His People spoke of how in the past godless leaders have tried to use genocide to prevent God from raising up His people (e.g. king Herod). The participants were enthusiastic to take a stand, yet sobered by the impact of abortion on our land.
High resolution digital photographs are available and will be sent on request.
A life chain was also held in Durban - for further information on the Durban life chain, contact Jenny Christmas 083 529 4373 or Myrna King 072 431 0698.
