THE SILVER RING THING
Clearly the best mix of high tech sound, lighting, special effects and comedy performance about guys, girls, dating, love, second chances and choices! The Silver Ring Thing is a se xual abstinence program where guys and girls pledge abstinence to s ex before marriage. To solidify this pledge as many as 70% of teenagers at a SRT show choose to put on a silver ring as a public reminder of their commitment. Overseas 20% of teens trust Christ as Saviour and many others respond to the “second chance” message.

An instant positive peer pressure group emerges that encourages and promote abstinence. As we all know, HIV and AIDS are an epidemic crisis in South Africa and the truth is, there is no such thing as safe se x. Over 50% of teenagers are at risk of getting HIV and AIDS and no condom can protect 100% against HIV, pregnancy or any other of the thirty known s exually transmitted diseases. Knowing this, the Silver Ring Thing was introduced and started in America by Denny Pattyn in 1995. In the last year this cutting edge presentation has taken youth culture by storm and has been getting extensive media attention by BBC, CNN, MTV and this PEOPLE magazine. This programme launched S.A. in Johannesburg on 4th Feb 2005. The vision of SRT is to reach the first million teenagers by 2010!

We ask believers to pray that this launch be a beginning that will turn the tide and that it would bring a revival amongst teenagers that will make a national impact and beyond.

CHRISTIAN LITERATURE MINISTRY IN BLUEWATER BAY
In Christian Literature work we are in a ministry employing one of the most powerful tools, I believe, to reach out to people who are in need of spiritual support. Therefore our business is not in the first place Christian book selling. We are here to supply in people's spiritual needs. In doing so we want to play a supportive role to the churches.

Reaching out to people in person “face to face” remains the ideal. It was calculated that by the year 2000 the world will contain six thousand million people. From this number one third are Christians while another third are only nominal Christians living amongst Christians but they never made a commitment for the Lord. The last third are unreached people groups. From the one third Christians only 9,9% are believed committed Christians.

It is this population explosion which has caused Christian leaders to conclude that if the entire world is ever to hear of Christ, the church must become totally involved in world evangelism. There is general agreement among them that one of the key ingredients in the fulfilling of this great responsibility is the increased use of literature. Many have expressed their belief that the only means of reaching every person with the Gospel is through use of the printed page.

We have identified the need of our Xhosa speaking people to have access to Bibles, Hymn books and other quality Christian Literature. Primarily we want to supply in their needs within their reach. We want to reach out to them but this is not something we can really accomplish all on our own. We need the support of the church to make this possible.

Our books are sold at normal trade prices but we are quite prepared to subsidise, within our means, where people cannot afford to buy it at market related prises.
