THE WHOLE STORY:
TRANSFORMATION
- FROM WHAT TO WHAT ?
The Transformation movement is spreading through Africa like a veld fire. It started with one city in 2001. In 2002 it had spread to 8 centres. Now 55 stadiums, representing 300 South African towns and cities, are planning to participate in 2003. In addition, 22 African countries have joined in a commitment to transforming the continent through unity in Jesus Christ.
Transformation is part of an ongoing process commencing with a day of celebrating Christian unity, a Walk of Hope and a week of bounty. Action plans to give expression to items listed in the charter will be formulated as part of an ongoing process.
The 1st May is not merely a day of prayer, praise and worship, but it is about mobilizing and celebrating church unity in Africa. We believe that only unity in Jesus Christ will heal our land. We are preparing for no less than the continent-wide participation of 2 million Christians on 1st May 2003!

Things

BIBLE
INSTITUTE EASTERN CAPE
CERTIFICATE
PROGRAMME
This is a course designed to give an introduction to theological study, by giving students the chance to look at biblical and ministry topics in more depth than they would normally encounter in their churches. A strongly evangelical, but non-denominational stance aims to develop a devotion to Christ, a passion for the Gospel of salvation, a grounding in Scripture and a commitment to mission and service. The course, which has been running since 1995, suits lay preachers, cell group leaders, in fact anyone who is involved in the ministry of the Word, mission and evangelism.
The entire course consists of eight modules, each containing eight lessons and it can be completed in a year by students who can attend two evenings a week over normal school terms. Recently it has been possible to take the course at a slower pace, over two years. Some even choose to take just an individual module which meets a particular need.
By
the end of the course, students should have acquired:

An overall grasp of the main concepts and ideas in some of the
biblical books
·
A basic understanding of how the Bible fits together, and how the
purposes of God unfold
·
An ability to outline some core doctrines of the Christian faith
·
A deepening love of the Lord, a desire to follow him in discipleship
in different areas of life
·
An ability to share the message of salvation clearly and sensitively
with others
·
Practical skills in bible-based preaching
Location
The
courses are conducted as much as possible in centres conveniently
located close to the homes of the students. These centres are seen as
"satellites" of the main B.I.E.C. campus in Walmer. Current
centres in P.E. include:

Elizabeth Central (starting in February with "Evangelism" module)
Cleary
Park (starting in February with "Evangelism" module)
Newton
Park (starting in February with "Preaching" module)
Kwazakhele
(offering the whole course in one year, beginning Feb11th)
Motherwell

The
course fee, which includes notes and lectures for all eight modules,
is R800 (or R100 per module). Bursaries are sometimes granted up to
80% of the full fees.

name is Matt Allison, a singer/songwriter based in Cape Town with
Sarepta Music. In April I release my second solo album called 'Where
this road leads', I'm starting to plan a 2 week promo tour of SA
before heading off overseas to Australia, New Zealand, the US and UK.
My style of music is Folk/Pop, ala Bebo Norman, Jars of Clay and
Caedmon's Call. It will be a solo tour, me and my acoustic guitar.

ADVICE REGARDING MEN'S RETREAT - I am in need of information regarding organising a Men's Retreat. I have spoken with 3 people already who has given me a fair idea. What I would really appreciate is for some more people who have actually organised retreats to advise me on possible pitfalls, tips and techniques on how to make this a success to the greater glory of our Lord. I would prefer this advise, if at all possible, to be e-mailed to me. This will enable me to collate all the responses and come up with a winning solution. in Southern Africa helped by culturally relevant biblical training
A
recent survey of church leaders in 10 countries, including Southern
Africa, indicates that the growing Willow Creek Association movement
is helping churches impact their communities - and their nations. In
Southern Africa, churches that have worked with the Willow Creek
Association for training and resources are growing at a much greater
pace than other churches. This growth is seen across denominational
lines and is consistent in each of the 10 countries surveyed:
Australia, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway,
Sweden, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.

Port Elizabeth Church Net was established in 1999 as an inter-denominational non-profit networking organisation working towards unity among churches and Christians in the Port Elizabeth area and surrounds. We do this largely through the medium of our Internet website, this newsletter and various other electronic communications. We seek to work together with, and in support of, all bona fide Christian organisations, ministries and churches in our area.
Most of our current income comes from advertising revenue from our Christian Business Directory; however this is not sufficient to cover our modest monthly operating costs.
