THE WHOLE STORY:

TRANSFORMATION CONFERENCE AT UPE

Transformation Africa is a prayer initiative through which Christians are seeking God so that He might bring about His purposes for our land.  As part of the Transformation prayer initiative we are looking at addressing the issues that face both our city and country.  After much consultation these have been identified as HIV/Aids, Violence, Crime, Poverty, Gender Abuse, and Racism, among others.

To this end a one day conference will be held at the University of Port Elizabeth Sports Centre on Thursday, 27 March 2003, from 08h00 to 16h30. The purpose of the conference is to look at and brainstorm how ordinary individual Christians can collectively rise up and make a difference in addressing the issues we face in our Metropole.

With this aim in mind we need YOU to be there.  Pastoral, business, academic and civic leaders, together with all interest groups from across the metropole will be taking part.

The objectives of the conference are:

The conference has been sponsored by UPE and is open to anyone interested in the transformation of our city. For more info, contact the Transformation office at 041 360-9110, email tcn@pechurchnet.co.za or;

COMPUTER NEEDED FOR TRANSFORMATION NMB / PE CHURCH NET- CAN YOU HELP ?

After years of faithful service, our aged Pentium 166 is starting to take serious strain. As the demands placed on our communication infrastructure increase, we are finding ourselves in urgent need of an updated system. Minimum requirement is a Pentium 3 - 733Mz with 128 Mb RAM (Box only - Monitor, Harddrive, CD-ROM, etc. not essential).

If you can help by donating or sponsoring a system (estimated cost R2000), please contact Shaun on 041 466-5696 or email shaun@pechurchnet.co.za

RADIO KINGFISHER - INCREASED LISTENERSHIP

We have just received our (RAMS) Radio Audience Measure figures and it shows that we have increased our listenership with another 21000 which gives us a total of 130 000 listeners. We are currently the second largest community radio in the Eastern Cape.

We thank God for His amazing favour on our lives. Just the thought that we were suppose to close down our station almost three years ago. Just imagine what would have happened to the many lives that would have been effected by this decision by the Broadcasting Authority.

When God has alternative plans, no man can stop them.(Jeremiah 29:11)

Please continue to pray for us and especially for myself as the station manager as I need the wisdom of Solomon and the patience of Job.

God bless you today with His glorious goodness and grace.

Billy Paulson
Station Manager - Radio Kingfisher

PRAYER CONSULTATION - REPORT BACK
Submitted by Revd Lawrie Wilmot (Facilitator of Church Unity - Uitenhage)

A prayer consultation was held by a group of intercessors who are all involved in this ministry in the Metropole on 24th January, and I believe that as the person facilitating the discussion that morning the record of the meeting needs to be published to encourage other intercessory groups to contact us, and to ask everyone for their comments. We are of course by no means the only intercessors' group in the Metro, neither do we speak on anyone's behalf, so this record is very much needing confirmation where it claims to have heard the Lord speaking; and of course it needs to be said that everything is as the group saw it, which is immediately an incomplete picture. We therefore would like as much feedback as possible.

AIM:
To arrive at a prayer strategy for the Metro. We all know that there is a tremendous amount of intercession going on everywhere, which is wonderful, but our group felt the Lord could make more effective use of us if we had a definite strategy we were all working through as a Metro. In military terms, if the commander wants to redirect and replan his troops' movements, it is essential that they are following a predetermined plan that can be changed, rather than each unit in the army doing what it thinks best without much reference to anyone else's activities, necessary though they all undoubtedly are!

WHAT IS PE CHURCH NET? ... AND HOW YOU CAN HELP

Port Elizabeth Church Net was established in 1999 as an inter-denominational non-profit networking organisation working towards unity among churches and Christians in the Port Elizabeth area and surrounds. We do this largely through the medium of our Internet website, this newsletter and various other electronic communications. We seek to work together with, and in support of, all bona fide Christian organisations, ministries and churches in our area.

Most of our current income comes from advertising revenue from our Christian Business Directory; however this is not sufficient to cover our modest monthly operating costs. It is therefore once again necessary for us to issue an appeal for sponsorship, either one-off or on a monthly basis. We are also in need of updated computer equipment. We trust that you are finding the services we provide to be of value and would ask you to prayerfully consider assisting to support our ministry.

Can you help? Please give us a call on 041 466-5696 or email shaun@pechurchnet.co.za
