Impressions by Dave Pederson

Thousands of men converging on Shalom Farm, near Greytown, KZN - the home of Angus Buchan for a weekend of "Dying to live!"

The numbers kept growing, and even with so much testosterone (of all the Harley Davidsons!) the focus was clearly on a passion to meet with God.

Many had brought friends and workmates who needed to meet with the Lord. At every meeting an opportunity was afforded to be born-again, Thousands were swept into the Kingdom.

The worship was awesome in it's reach as the Spirit connected men from every walk of life with the Lrds.  Men wept openly and fell to their knees an repentance and gratitude.

The organizers did an awesome task at preparing for the 23 000 - 30 000 expected. This grew to over 50 000! All roads led to Shalom! In fact the last 10 kilometers took us 3 hours, such was the traffic. Some flew in by plane or helicopter.  God is calling the men of our country to rise up in faith and courage - and humility.

Everyone camped out in open fields that had been grassed in preparation. Massive donkey gezers with truckloads of firewood, food tents, toilets - the organizers excelled themselves both logistically and attitudinally.

The meeting place was in the world's largest tent which seated only two thirds of the men! I could go on - but the main thing was the profound sense of God being on the move.  As Angus said " We're not praying for revival, we're in revival! God put this together. He called us and is calling us."

Personally I received it as a great gift of great encouragement from the Lord.  These are days of opportunity and significance in God.  He's doing amazing things in our country.

In summary the MMC was about:

  1. God is calling!  Attendance was beyond anything that could have resulted from human attempts at marketing.
  2. The rusticity encouraged raw, rugged, real faith and focus on the Lord. Being awakened by a trumpeter at 05h00 playing worship songs before sunrise was received by applause and encores!
  3. God provided! The big tent, food for all and so much more.
  4. Angus Buchan preached from the hip! He spoke as a man to men.
  5. Worship connected! Tears flowed. Hard hearts melted. Courage stirred.
  6. Miracles abounded. Healings and conversions. I heard of one man declared dead from a heart attack by a doctor and coming alive 10 minutes later.
  7. Fellowship was rich and real with men openly talking of what the Lord is doing in our lives. Complaints were not on the agenda!
  8. Transformation was profound as addictions were exposed and broken. Racism and wrong attitudes were challenged and changed. Lost men were born again!
  9. Fun! Quite honestly is was also just great fun hanging out together!
