STUCK IN THE MIDDLE OF NOWHERE

60 km from the nearest town, one is struck by the desolation of Akora Khattak Refuge camp. Clearly the Pakistan government does not want to make anyone of the 30 000 inhabitants from Afghanistan feel too welcome here! In an area in which one could hardly grow a weed, with summer temperatures reaching above 50 C people are desperately trying to survive. The only help these desperate people receive is from a Christian organization which helps them to build a stable mud house and supplies about half of the 4 000 families with one meal a day.

Due to the renewed fighting and the 18 months of drought in Afghanistan, there are at least 35 new families arriving per week. Often they have absolutely nothing. A small group of South African Christian will be working with this organization to supply some of the needy with blankets and food. (In winter the temperature drops to below freezing).

About R150 000 is needed to supply 1 500 parcels - will you please consider making a donation for this cause?

The new arrivals often only have the most basic things - and will live in a tent like this with their whole family for months.
