NEWSFLASH !! 18th August 2000 The Climb for Christ team is currently on the mountain! (Mt Kilimanjaro). They left SA last Saturday, and started the climb on Monday. They are due to return to Johannesburg on Sunday (20 aug) at 5 pm. Please pray for them, and trust the Lord to bring them back safely. Please pray that more people will be moved to contribute to the project, even at this late stage, as the need for leadership training is so vast and the facilities so limited! |

Dear Members of Churchnet
CHALLENGING ALL CONGREGATIONS
It is with great excitement that I am writing this letter to you to request your assistance. I sincerely believe that after reading this message, you will not only share my excitement about our project, but that you will also agree to assist us in order to challenge your congregations to take a stand for Christ and become actively involved in the spiritual development of the African continent!
I am requesting your support to challenge all Christian business people, congregations and individuals to become part of Africas solution. We believe that solution can only be found in Jesus Christ!
Did you know that Protestant Christianity in Africa is growing faster than any other religion and more than twice as fast as the population?! There is one serious problem, however.
The Christian Church in Africa has a critical shortage of trained, Spirit-filled leaders. In fact, the need for trained leaders is generally regarded as the single largest stumbling block that will hinder the Church to grow even more spectacularly in future.
To address this problem a unique project was launched known as Climb for Christ 2000. CFC is an inter-denominational project aimed at supporting the spiritual growth and general development of the people of Africa by ways of assisting current and future Christian leadership training programs.
In August 2 000, a Climb for Christ-team will climb Africas highest mountain - Kilimanjaro (Tanzania). This mountains Uhuru Peak towers a majestic 5 985 meters (19 340 ft) above sea level.
We are challenging all Christian business people, individuals and congregations to assist us by sponsoring 1 meter (or any number of meters) of this climb at only R100,00 per meter.
In this manner you can now invest in the spiritual and general development of Africas people. Your sponsorship will be added to others to reach the target amount of R 600 000, which will be used to support several leadership training programs (undertaken by different agencies e.g. Operation Mobilization, Youth With a Mission, Child Evangelism Fellowship, Philadelphia Project and Open Doors in countries such as Malawi, Mozambique, Tanzania, Botswana and Zimbabwe.
We believe that the true "African Renaissance" is possible only through an awakening and renewal brought about in peoples and nations lives through a relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ. This project offers you the opportunity of being part of this renaissance by investing in Christian leadership training!
