MARIE STOPES ABORTIONS "SAFE" AND "PAIN-FREE" - HEARING ON 7 APRIL - PLEASE SPONSOR, FAST AND PRAY Dear Actionites The final hearing of the Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) on the Marie Stopes advertising claim that their abortions are "safe" and "pain-free" will be held on Wednesday 7 April 2004 at 10h00. Even though a woman has died as a result of a Marie Stopes abortion, the ASA has on two previous occasions allowed Marie Stopes to continue to claim that their abortions are "safe" and "pain-free". Marie Stopes likes being able to mislead the public that their abortions are "safe" and "pain-free". They perform about 2000 abortions each month, and have an annual turnover of about R16 million. For this case, they are being helped by the Women's Legal Centre. I have debated representatives of the Women's Legal Centre on radio and they are hard-core pro-abortion. If we win this case, the public image of abortion will be seriously dented, and by God's grace, women will consider better alternatives in their crisis pregnancy. If the public know the truth about abortion and Marie Stopes, they will not be misled into thinking that it helps women. Will you please consider getting involved by: 1. We are also grateful for the free help of many doctors, an attorney and others. Fasting and praying With the blood of 2000 innocent babies being added every month, Marie Stopes has established itself as the biggest private abortionist in South Africa. Abortion is murder. We are fighting an exceptionally powerful enemy - Jezebel, Stalin and Pol Pot also killed many people. Numbers 35:33 says "Do not pollute the land where you are. Bloodshed pollutes the land, and atonement cannot be made for the land on which blood has been shed, except by the blood of the one who shed it." Please consider setting aside between one and three days to fast and pray that the Lord will give us favour (Ezra 8:21, Ester 4:16, Isaiah 58, Mark 2:19,20). Please e-mail us to let us know that you will be doing so, for our encouragement. 3. Praying It may be that for medical reasons you cannot fast - please do not let that stop you from praying! It would really be appreciated if you can commit to pray for this every day until the case is heard (i.e. for the next three weeks). Please pray: 1. That the truth will come out, and that every lie will be exposed and rejected. 2. That the Lord would act on behalf of the innocent and vulnerable. 3. Thank the Lord for all the hard work and the information that has been exposed through this case. Thank Him for bringing things to light by His own power. Thank the Lord for those who have already prayed for this case. Thank the Lord for those who provide alternatives to women in distress. 4. For Jeanine, attorney Darryl and advocate Gavin as they work on this case - there is lots to do, there are plenty of other responsibilities and there is little time. Pray that they will have insight, energy, health and wisdom. Please pray also for protection on them, their families and all their equipment. 5. For the ASA committee and chairman who will evaluate the case - that their minds will be enlightened to understand the truth and that they will not be led astray by lies. 6. That the Lord will provide the right doctor to help us during the presentation of the case on 7 April. 7. That the Lord will give Jeanine and Gavin wisdom during the presentation of the case on 7 April. 8. For the sponsorship that is needed to come in. 9. For fair and truthful media coverage. That the media opportunities will be used well, and that we will have favour as the public will be persuaded that abortion is always dangerous and painful. 10. For women who have had abortions at Marie Stopes - that they will find forgiveness and healing in the Lord. 11. That the Lord would raise up and empower more people to work as Christian activists and in Crisis Pregnancy Centres. 12. That the eyes of those who work for Marie Stopes will be opened, and that they will see the truth of what they are doing. That they will come to repentance and find forgiveness and healing in the Lord. 13. For the Lord to have mercy on our land and forgive us, so that He can bless us. 14. That hearts in South Africa will be so changed that abortion will be rejected as barbaric to both women and their children, and that it will become a thing of the past, like apartheid.
