KEEP UP THE PRESSURE ON THE BCCSA 31 July 2003 Complaints against blasphemy to the Broadcasting Complaints Commission (BCCSA) are making an impact. BCCSA chairman Kobus van Rooyen said to an Africa Christian Action member yesterday that the Commission is under intense pressure as a result of a massive number of complaints about blasphemy on SABC. He said that the Commission has to be tough and not give in to the pressure of people with radical views. He said that, Many people have not adapted to living under the new Constitution. The probable reason for this is that most South Africans still hope that they live in a democracy where the view of the public counts for something. Africa Christian Action director Charl van Wyk said that now is the time to up the pressure. He said, It is fantastic that the results of the campaign against blasphemy is being felt. We need to work harder now, and our efforts need to be backed by prayer. Furthermore, while we are so often loathe to sacrifice our comforts for the Kingdom, the time has come for Christians to cancel their TV licenses and no longer access SABC until something is done. Inform the BCCSA that you would like to see the publics wishes respected and something done about blasphemy, especially on SABC channels as the SABC is the public broadcaster. Over 550 instances of blasphemy were broadcast on SABC in the month of April. Complaints to the BCCSA can be sent to: PO Box 412365, Craighall, 2024 Tel: 011 7812955, Fax: 011 7870280, E-mail:
