Why we need to pray ... NOW !!

The so-called Parliament of World Religions is meeting in Cape Town from 1st - 8th December 1999. We have been disturbed to see some church leaders propose Christian involvement in this gathering as a good thing. While we acknowledge and respect each person's right to make their own choice regarding religion, scripture is quite clear about our standpoint as Christians: "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God" .. "you shall have no other gods before me" "<Jesus answered>... I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me" ... (Exodus 20:5; Exodus 20:3; John 14:6)

Some fellow Christians have taken exception to our call for prayer in connection with this conference. We would like to stress that we welcome their input and encourage them to provide their views for publication here.

P.E. Church Net aims to facilitate unity among Christians according to our statement of faith, which we believe is fully biblical and in accordance with accepted Christian belief of the last 2000 years.

URGENT CALL TO PRAYER for CAPE TOWN

Interfaith enthusiasts, under the umbrella of the 'Council for a Parliament of World's Religions(CPWR) are gearing up for their end of the millenium conference to be held in Cape Town, December 1-8, 1999. More than 8,000 delegates are expected to attend. The theme is "A New Day Dawning- Spiritual Yearnings and Sacred Possibilities".

Despite the fact that the moral fabric of South Africa is being attacked from every angle and the sins of abortion, pornography and homosexual perversion now have state protection the CPWR says "South Africa is undergoing an unprecedented spiritual and societal renewal. While continuing the long and difficult work of confronting the past, people of good will are shaping a vision of a new century of peace and prosperity in which all might share".

Their agenda already has at its centre the presentation of a new document which th CPWR has been working on for 2 years, A Call to Our Guiding Institutions, addressed to goverment, business, education, media, and to religion. "In light of the principles of the Global Ethic, the Call will ask these institutions to re-examine and alter their roles and responsibilities in the 21st century"

Christians for Truth Western Cape are mobilising Christians to fight against this idolatrous Conference. Legal steps were taken after Christians were offended by the theme of one of the seminars: Jesus the Holy Fool - Christology for the next millenium. Of all the religions represented there, they have seen fit to ridicule Christ our Life and Light.

What can you do?
Intercede before the Throne of Grace that the Lord would work to destroy the powers of darkness.
Write to the local newspaper and express your opinion, not forgetting to be polite, factual and brief.
Radio phone-in programmes are also an opportunity to share the Biblical view

The Parliament of World Religions is due to meet in Cape Town from the 1st to the 8th of December 1999. Their first preliminary event was scheduled for the spring equinox, the 23rd of September on top of Table Mountain at 17h00

Why is this important for intercessors?
This is not just a group of tourists coming to Cape Town. There are 8000 spiritual leaders representing every religion on the planet. i.e. every demonic principality that pretends to be the Lord God Almighty. In their worship of these demonic gods, they intend to erect spiritual altars to these gods in our mother city. They will be calling up the demonic spirits, make connections in the heavens and bring their sacrifices and worship to demonic hosts.

So what?
In terms of the principles of spiritual mapping as pointed out by George Otis Jnr. if they succeed, it will change the entire spiritual dimension in Cape Town, South Africa and the continent. People will become more blinded to the gospel than ever before and the legal right to open the spiritual gateways to demonic spirits will be achieved.

Who is coming?
Representatives of Islam, Judaism, Hindus, Buddhists, Taoists, Jainists, Sangomas from central Africa and South Africa, Shamans from North America with the Dalai Lama as the key guest of honour. The organisers claim that there is only one God who can be worshipped in any of these ways and by any of these names. Even "Christians" seem to agree with that!

Main foci: Technicon in District Six with Plenary sessions in the Good Hope Center. Also at the New and old city halls, UCT, Ratanga etc.

What can we do?
It is important that we pray, fast and intercede that when they try to call up their demons in Cape Town, that the demons will not be able to answer. They must not be able to establish new spiritual connections to their gods in Cape Town. The odd prayer or so will not be effective. We are facing the greatest onslaught in the spiritual realm in the history of South Africa and the world. We need fervent continuous prayer.

Please raise up prayer altars to the Lord Almighty through Jesus Christ in various ways and plead with the Lord to come down and rend the heavens to help us in this battle. This does not only affect South Africa or the continent my brothers and sisters, but if it is not stopped, it will affect the whole world. THIS IS SERIOUS!!!

Has the Lord helped us in the past?
YES! The World Hindu Congress in Durban was affected with the prayers of the saints a few years ago, because they themselves said it was a "flop". Praise the name of the living God. The same happened at Wembley Stadium in 1994 when the New Agers tried to have a big conference. God can do it, but we need to pray and intercede.
