Shalom Ministries Prayer Letter #9 - October 2012

4 October 2012

Dear prayer partners and all readers of this letter,

I want to announce with delight that our brother Angus has been requested to address and encourage the people of North West Province to be reconciled to one another consequent to the labour unrest on the mines in their area. The meeting will take place on the 20th October 2012 and will start at 2:30 pm. Tickets are free and available at

When we look at the present state of our country the buzz words are, corruption, greed, violence, corporate and political manipulation, financial control, labour unrest, unreasonable demands, discrimination and exploitation. The promised buzz words of the past such as peace, equality, honesty, integrity, reconciliation, forgiveness, justice, fairness, truth, purity, goodness, transparency and the like have been proved to have been empty and without substance. Why? May we ask? The answer is short and simple; the latter qualities are qualities of a holy and loving God available only through our Lord Jesus Christ. The former evil qualities are the qualities of fallen and sinful man. When man looks to man for salvation he will reap man’s evil nature. When man looks to God in Christ Jesus for salvation he shall reap the latter qualities that belong to the Divine nature. What shall we do because we have all fallen short? The answer is again short; seek the Lord while he may be found, let the wicked forsake their way and the unrighteous their thoughts and let them return to the Lord. He will have mercy and pardon abundantly through our Lord Jesus. If ever there was a time for self examination, humiliation and repentance, it is now. Not tomorrow – Today is the day of salvation! Do not let the forces of evil harden our hearts! Let us confess our sin of unbelief to the God. Let us believe that Jesus Christ died on the cross in our place and for all our sins. Ask Christ to come into your life and ask Him to fill you with the Holy Spirit given by the Father. If you do this you will be saved and God will confirm this to you personally. All good things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through our Lord Jesus Christ and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.

Having therefore been reconciled to God let us pray fervently, that

  • God may fill Angus with His Holy Spirit, understanding, wisdom and compassion so that he may know how to address the people on this very difficult and explosive matter

  • The Holy Spirit may draw the people from the region in their thousands to attend the meeting and repent with sorrow of their part and/or failure that gave rise to this unfortunate event.

  • True reconciliation may take place in the hearts of the people that there may be restoration and revival in their midst, not looking to Angus but to the Lord Jesus to visit us in power.

  • God may help the people to forgive one another and restore good and Godly relationships.

  • We may weep and have compassion with those who lost fathers, brothers, relatives and friends forever. Let us mourn with those that mourn.

  • People will come forward to help with the financial plight and fear of those left behind.

  • Corruption be eradicated and that the perpetrators be exposed and brought to book

  • Greed be repented of, failing which God’s judgment will not depart

  • The labour unrest in the rest of the country be addressed and fairly resolved without hurting the innocent public at large

  • Serious and continuous consideration be given for the narrowing of the income gap between the rich and the poor.
