Living
Waters:
Pursuing
Sexual and Relational Wholeness in Christ
What
is it?
Living
Waters is an in-depth healing/teaching/discipleship series. Its goal
is to lay a foundation for sexual and relational wholeness. The basic
premise of Living Waters is that Jesus is committed to enabling us to
love. When we are confused or broken in our sexual identities, we are
bound in our capacity to love others according to the will of Christ.
We thus need His grace and restoration to heal our sexuality and
relationships. Living Waters aims to minister healing.
For
Whom?
Anyone
with identified relational or sexual struggles is eligible for
Living Waters. Christ's capacity to touch and restore us at deep
levels of brokenness and shame applies to all of us, regardless of
the exact type of problem.
What
does the program require of you?
-
A
desire to deepen your relationship with Christ.
-
A
desire to allow Christ to reveal His intentions for your
relationships and sexuality.
-
A
willingness to face the sinfulness of your present state and the
painful realities that led you there. (This involves digging into
hurts from your past, specifically related to key people in your
life. eg. parents).
-
A
willingness to be open and honest with others about your sexual and
relational feelings and practices, as well as areas of identity and
emotional immaturity.
-
A
willingness to receive the healing ministry of the Holy Spirit in
these deep areas of your sexuality/relationships.
-
A
desire and willingness to walk free from sexual and relational
bondage and find loving relationships within the body of Christ.
Doing
What?
The
Living Waters program covers 20 lessons in a time frame of between
25 and 30 weeks. We meet once a week, and each week consists of
worship, teaching, healing prayer and small group interaction. There
will also be reading assignments from the manual during the week.
We
also suggest that you read "Pursuing Sexual Wholeness" by
Andy Comiskey, Creation House, available at most Christian bookstores.
This book gives a good overview of what we will be exploring in
Living Waters.
