OBED
Productions To Our Church Leaders New Biblical Theatre Production Obed Productions is once again producing an original Biblical Musical Theatre Production with a Gospel Message in the Port Elizabeth Opera House at the end of September 2003. Our vision is to use the medium of theatre to offer Christians good clean entertainment, which will build and spiritually grow them. More importantly, we want to offer the opportunity to use this as an outreach, to invite people who would not normally come to a church but would come to a theatre production, so that the Lord can touch and change their hearts. This production also offers people the opportunity to be involved in an outreach and at the same time to develop and exercise their creative talents. We require actors, singers, dancers, painters, artists, seamstresses, stage staff, lighting & sound technicians and much, much more. We are prepared to take the time to train those who are interested The production runs in the Port Elizabeth Opera House from 23 September 2003 to 10 October 2003
Auditions
will be held on 21 June 2003 Please would you announce the upcoming auditions to your congregation About us - Obed Productions is a non-profit theatre production company, which is committed to bringing to the theatre new original Biblical musical theatre productions and have committed themselves to produce at least one new musical per year. Our primary objective is to promote Biblical Afrikaans Musical Theatre, but we are not limited to this area only. We also have a passion to promote new talent, to make theatre available to disadvantaged communities and to give people the opportunity to become acquainted with and to grow into the technical side of theatre, an area, which has been neglected for a long time. We also work in collaboration with other Theatre groups. Last year we produced the production RUT, the first in the trilogy, honouring women in the genealogical line of Christ Jesus, which was highly acclaimed and nominated for a number of Showtime awards. n Bhoer maak n Plan is the second in this trilogy. TEENAGER PRODUCING PLAY FOR HAVEN Palesa Mbele (18) has written an exciting play for the House of Resurrection Haven and hopes to produce it in June. Palesa has asked members of the youth groups from All Saint's, St Stephen's, St Francis Xavier and St Mark and St John to take part in the play, with rehearsals beginning shortly. The play is post Easter, reflecting upon what it would be like if Jesus came to the youth of today. Aimed at a younger audience, the play will certainly be enjoyed by older folk. Please watch out for details of the dates and venues for the play and support it as this is a wonderful initiative by our youth to help people living with AIDS. The play could also be offered as a focus at worship services in parishes. Palesa matriculated from Westering High School last year and is doing a Marketing Business Management Degree at Damelin College at present. She can be contacted at (041) 360-9148 during the evenings ....(Source - Iindaba, April 2000) |
