Young people today are faced with many challenges and temptations, and many do not have an adult in their lives who has the courage to say, ‘Follow my example as I follow the example of Christ’ (1 Cor 11:1). Perhaps if they did, they would feel more supported, more listened to, more loved… Perhaps they would make wiser choices, setting an example for the generations to follow.

Is the Church not called to a time such as this to invest in the next generation, cultivating and nurturing faithful disciples and thus building a stronger Church and a stronger nation?

Heartlines has developed a resource that will assist ordinary South Africans to walk the road of mentoring a young person. And we want to equip followers of Christ to develop the courage, commitment and skills to invite a young person to imitate and learn from them. It may be a younger believer who needs to be discipled, or it may be someone outside your church community who needs guidance in life skills, career choices or a challenging relationship.

Heartlines won’t match you with a young person; we’re sure there are many in your community who are probably watching you already. We simply want to help you to make an existing relationship with a young person more intentional and focussed.
