The MTR Smit Children's Haven Food Drive is taking place from 1 September 2026, to collect grocery items to make up 60 food parcels.
MTR Smit provides residential care to 81 traumatised and vulnerable children, between the ages of 3 - 18 years. During school holidays the children are able to visit their biological families on the recommendation of a Social Worker that they will be safe. Unfortunately, a Food Parcel is required for each child to make it possible for them to visit their family.
Please help us to strengthen family bonds and provide feelings of hope and joy.

When: Saturday 12th Septemberber 2026, from 9am to 1pm

We warmly invite you to join us for a meaningful Fundraiser Walk in support of The Compassionate Friends (TCF) Child Loss Support Group as we raise funds for the National Gathering taking place in George this year.
Date of the Walk: Saturday, 19 September 2026
Time: 09h00
Venue: Lorraine Full Gospel Church, Port Elizabeth
Cost: R100 per person (payable on the day)
Before we begin our walk, Renee Joy Kilian, Chapter Leader of TCF Port Elizabeth, will share a brief overview of the incredible support TCF provides to bereaved parents and siblings.
Your registration includes a delicious breakfast bun, coffee, and a time of fellowship after the walk.
Every step we take brings hope, healing, and reminds grieving families that they do not have to walk alone.

The annual Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer presented by Isuzu Motors South Africa - the Eastern Cape's biggest mass participation charity event takes place on Saturday, October 31.
Funds raised in the 2026 event will support projects by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of South Africa and CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.
There will be starting points in George, Nelson Mandela Bay and Buffalo City, as well as virtual.
Entry is R80 per person, with the first 10 000 entries qualifying for a free iconic pink T-shirt and a pink temporary Big Walk tattoo.
